i got all my parts from my dealer cause it was cheaper or else you can try ebay the piston, service honda for the chain, and rockymountain for the valves and gaskets.

im not sure how it runs against a 440.ive never rode with one before.i just did the 416 cause it runs cooler and it leaves room to bore more in the future

Try a 450r carb and full exhaust. A lot of stuff on Ebay, some really good deals on there in general if you look around. Check out magicracing.com, I like them cause they are my local shop and their prices are competitive at least. They have a Namura 440 kit (http://www.magicracing.com/Namura-440cc-Big-Bore-Kit-Honda-TRX400EX_p_252.html) and a complete cylinder (http://www.magicracing.com/TRX400EX-Big-Bore-Cylinder-Kit--440cc-89mm_p_6237.html). But the price on the complete cylinder isn't that great. I've never used Namura stuff so I can't say how good it is. Atv Galaxy has a exhaust package here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-400EX-HMF-Exhaust-Pipe-Dynatek-CDI-KN-K-N_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem588385b708QQitemZ3801 63700488QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories) that looks like a fair price. Full exhaust systems go for $435-$440 on ebay. Look around for used stuff, you can probably find low hour parts for a big discount.

I was going to correct a couple bits of info and contribute to your question but then I thought how easy this is to find just by reading posts. You wouldn't even have to use the search button, just scan through a couple pages.

ya I hear ya! thats probably what il go with! does je make a kit that comes with pin rings and gasket or is it just the piston?

what about the 426? all i do is mostly ride the dunes and right around the house so between the 426 and the 416 would yall still go with the 426?

ive never heard of a kit that comes with gaskets.i just used cometic.you can also use a xr400 head gasket it you want cause it raises compression a little cause its thinner.thats what i used to run before i did my rebuild.

i would go with the 426 because you ride dunes and wouldnt have a problem with overheating but i would suggest the 416 for trail riding if you are worried about temps

i say go big but i guess any bore is ok. i did a 460 stroker because i messed my crank and piston up. my mechanic told me to just go to a 86mm bore and buy a heavy duty crank. but since there are more bigger bikes that i ride with and price and labor wise it was going to cost me maybe 100-200 dollars more to do the bigger kit i went with the bigger kit. and now since i added that fcr carb i have a very very fast ex. i would race any stock or slightly modded bike. and not have any worries at all.

Up until 88.5mm you don't need anything but the piston, rings, clip and pin. A standard piston kit like that can be found anywhere from the site sponsor to ebay. I got my last one on ebay. CT Racing has good prices too.
