i hear alot of people putting on 450r shocks and whatnot, but what about elkas?
why dont people do many aftermarket shocks? are the 450r shocks better?

It depends on what you are looking to do with your quad ( race, recreational riding, etc), and your budget.

An aftermarket shock built for you is certainly a better value if you are a racer, but I am sure you can find tons of used 450 shocks on E-bay for less $.

well i'd like to race. but i need more practice on the track for sure. you think a 450r shock would suffice for now until i get more into racing?

I think so. You may want to consider getting them re-built ( sprung and valved for you), but to start off, it may be a less expensive option.

OR

You could call Elka and see if they have any " used " stuff in stock. I know sometimes that they sell stuff for cheap that has been used for photo shoots or magasine articles and such that has barely been used. You never know, you may get a good deal.
