Just wondering what all needs to be changed to put a 400EX axle in a 250 swingarm.

I think you only need to run 400ex hubs.

Yeah hubs for sure, might check the Cross Compatibity chart in the tech stick thread, should be some info on this there.

they have a diffderent spline count. you need the sprocket hub also.

When I was building my R, I was going to run a 400EX axle on it.

If you are going to run the 400EX axle, you have to use all EX parts. The bearing carrier is the same so that will work just fine. (I actually have an EX carrier in mine right now.)

So you will have to run EX axle, sprocket hub rotor, brake stay and caliper and axle nut. It will work.

But.....

This is what I did not like when I had it on my swing arm. The pinch bolts for the carrier are not in the same spot as they are on a 400EX and the postion of the rear caliper is right over one of the allen bolts that you have to loosen up to adjust the chain. So you would have to remove the caliper to get at that bolt. Maybe you could make a wrench that would work.

I was going to use it but then I got a good deal on an RPM axle so I did not use the EX axle that I had.

This was all on an 89 swing arm.

All you need Is the axle and hubs, all the other brake parts will work just fine. The lock nut Is slightly different, the 400ex doesn't have the extra washer/retainer that the goes on before the clip.
