I'm looking for a decent 3/8''s torque wrench. Something easy to read and reliable. I was looking at the Craftsman digital ones (Not the top grade but the middle one) and they were getting some pretty crappy reviews. Mostly the display was breaking and you couldn't read the numbers.

What are you guys using that won't break the bank?? Somewhere around $150 + or - $10 or $20.

Im thinking about getting this one

It will probably only get used a few times a year. But I don't want to buy a POS.

i use only snap on and mac tools.. pricey tools but can always take them back to get fixed.. some even have lifetime warrantys...mine are all dead on though cuz my dad (helicopter mechanic) has to have his right on the dot...never had any torque wrecnches go but a few regular ratchets, but they took them back and rebuilt them for free.. not a big fan of craftsman... had a lot break...

I had two Craftsman and they both went bad. You can get lightly used Snapon ones on ebay for the same price as new Craftsman.

I went through this about three months ago only with a 1/2" and came with same results as you and ended up getting a Gearwrench brand one through Northern tools but I ordered through amazon and it was a little bit cheaper and amazon at the time had free 3 day shipping. Its digital which is what I wanted and very accurate. I like mine and have been thinking of getting the 3/8" also. Both rate pretty well. With mine I put my entire 400ex, rear end of a trx90 and almost a complete 250r and have had zero troubles. I even checked a couple of the torque ratings with my dads snap on when I first got it to make sure it was legit. Northern Tool has alot of different ones at decent prices also if you dont like this one. It did come with the nice protective case also which was nice.

Amazon is cheaper but here are links to both places.

i like the big three, mac matco and snap on, craftsman torque wrenches suck and your better off guessing with a regular ratchet, ive tried to trust them but then i just snap the bolt. i have 3 matco ones and love them. if you have the money get a split beam torque wrench, they are more accurate and dont require to be turned back to 0 every use

I've got a craftsman clicker type, no problems.

I like that one. 10-100 ft.lbs. and in inch lbs. instead of NM's.

That'll probably be the one I get. Thanks!!
