Ebay Carrier - click here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300296910295&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en)

I just came back from a ride - heard some 'scraping' as I was riding so I turned around and headed for home - got home, saw some grease on the rear axle and sprocket - I kinda figured what was up - grabbed hold of the grab bar and gave it a 'twist' and my chain came real loose.

I'm pretty sure the rear axle bearings are toast - so - I wanna replace the whole thing and for 125 this carrier I linked seems like a good deal? New carrier with all new bearings and seals - plus you can grease it while it's installed.

Anyone use one of these? Will it be a direct fit in my 86 swingarm?

I'd just like to know if I can buy this and install it with no 'hidden' issues or problems once I get it.

Opinions? Suggestions?

I'd like to probably replace the rear axle with a wider one while I have it stripped down to me thinks - who makes a good adjustable axle?

Look on ebay for the lonestar 250r bearing carrier. Its around the same price and its really nicely made, comes with usa made bearings installed not foreign ones. Ive had mine on for over a year still feels like brand new. If your looking for wider axle the two best brands are RPM or Lonestar. You can get a nice used lonestar axle on ebay for around $140-$160.

Those Lonestar carriers look good.

Another question - say I were to switch over to a 400ex axle - I know the axle will fit and I would need to run 400ex hubs, but what about the axle nut, brake caliper and sprocket parts?

Will the 250r gear swap over?

I run a 400ex axle in a lonestar carrier. The 250r sproket will work, and all the 250r brake stuff stays the same. I use a stock 400ex axle nut, so im not sure about using the 250r nut. You can also use 450r hubs, they are the same spline.

Want a deal, check out Black Snowzer ebay site.
Has a pic of one of those little hairy dogs & those carriers are the only thing they have for an atv, everything else they have is nick nack stuff.

These are burgard cycle they are a site sponser here. I have one of these in my 400 and 250 and seem to be very good carrier. Has a zerk fitting on the end. I have some of the other big companies and have paid alot more for carriers and wont again as long as they make them.

Bump.

so I ended up with one of these ...
click here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/400EX-HONDA-250R-REAR-AXLE-BEARING-CARRIER-SHIPS-FREE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414a68179dQQitemZ2 80421210013QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories )

Went to install it and got it almost fully but it stopped with bout half an inch left - now it won't move no matter how you pound on it?

Suggestions?

Would it hurt to remove the o-rings?

Just the basic o-rings that are on the outside of the carrier.

Yes, you are going to need them outer o-rings. Are they what is
keeping the carrier from sliding in all the way?

Yeah.

Need them or not - I removed them and was finally able to get the carrier installed.
