Hello Everyone,

I have noticed that lots of us are from the KY, TN etc area. I was wondering, if sometime in the near future if you guys would like to all get together for an EXRiders group ride at Turkey Bay at Land Between the Lakes. If you guys are interested, lets set up a date and time. I for one think that it would be an awesome thing and would be fun. We could all finally put a face with the screen name and a first hand look at the quads in the sigs. What do you guys think?

Clay

Well, if you have someone buy you a admit tag, you can ride. All the guys at the gates do is check your quads for the tags. Just have someone over 16 buy your tag.

are we wanting to do this soon or wait until next spring? The weather around here is getting pretty "iffy" from week to week. Wont be too much longer it will be turning off real cold.

Striker49
11-22-2001, 11:48 PM
I think we should plan it in the Spring some weekend. That way the weather is warm and people can plan ahead and get time off work and stuff. You get the point. We should set it sometime in the Spring though, that (in my opinion) would be the best thing to do. I probably wont be able to go back til then anyways as well. We should get an approx. set date pretty quick though so we can see whos doin what and schedule it so we can have the most riders possible present. Ive gotta few friends that I think i could get to come. 3-4 possibly.

JUST KEEP THIS POST AT THE TOP

Do you guy's know if Livingston is still open. I was planning on going the 25th of Nov. Someone told me that it was closed. Some people no it as Cromer's Ridge. It's in KY exit 49.

11-23-2001, 08:48 AM
I'd say it's still open,,,they only closed parts of it from what I know....but I've been hearing rumors for like 5 years that it's closed but yet I know people that still go down there. LIvingston is closer to me than LBL,,i'd rather go there,,but at LBL we could get a campsite and have one big hootin nanny...WOOOOOOOOO YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......:devil

Okay heres what im thinking. I will be racing at the Daniel Boone MX in April (i think its april) and i need to plan around that. WHat dates do you guys think would be good and convieniant. Lets get this party started.

11-23-2001, 09:53 AM
Well if my back is healed up I'll be racin at daniel boone with ya cheif...:D Regardless I'll be there,,,all depends on how the ole spin feels in the next few months..Maybe late march..of course if the weather is not jacked up..

Clay
11-23-2001, 10:55 AM
I was thinking late march as well. what do you other guys think?

Moto92
11-23-2001, 11:39 AM
March sounds good to me, it should be a little warmer out but not the blistering midwest 150% humidity days.
Any weekend is good for me, I work M-F and always off on weekends plus I got those paid sunshine, whoops... I mean sick days! heh

Striker49
11-23-2001, 01:45 PM
Late March sounds good as long as the weather holds up. It could be really cold or nice and warm. Then youve gotta plan around the spring rain and junk. Late March is good for me though, shouldnt be a problem. BTW, if that doesnt work we could push it back a weekend into the first week of April and everyone thats still in school should be off for Spring Break.
:devil Time to RIDE RED :devil

Here is the link for the Turkey Bay OHV Park site. (http://www2.lbl.org/lbl/OHVGate.html) It has the cost for everything i do believe. $15 per quad for a 3 day pass/ $45 for a year pass from March 31st 2002-March 31st 2003 i think.
Heres some stuff from the site...
Turkey Bay is a 2,500-acre area set aside for Off-Highway Vehicle use and camping. Located on the shores of Turkey Bay and Kentucky Lake, the area has varied terrain for all skill levels of OHV riders.

Camping is permitted in Turkey Bay OHV at designated camping areas near entrance road #157. Chemical toilets and unloading ramps are available. A complete description of fees and camping guidelines is available at our Virtual Visitor Center.

Want to take a virtual tour of Turkey Bay? Be sure to visit the OHV section of our web site.

Turkey Bay has approximately 100 miles of OHV trails which cover a variety of terrain, offering something for every skill level. Flat meadows, mud bogs, rolling hills and rocky plateaus await the adventuresome!
The steep hillsides provide beautiful vistas and challenging terrain.

This is LilGuyOn400ex's Dad,

My son mentioned this group ride to me. Sounds as if it would be a great time. I only have one question, Does Ky have an age limit on a 14 year old riding a 400cc quad? If so, how do we get around it, my son really wants to go on this trip. Any information, or anyone who knows the rules and regs about LBL, please let me know.

Thanks "The Dad"

Oh PS: Can I come? I don't have a ex, I'm an owner of a SC500 4x4. IF you tell me NO, I'll just have to tell the wife we have to buy another 400ex, "Hate when that happens!!!"

11-27-2001, 10:49 AM
I don't think you'll have any problems with JR riding a 400,,,it's not a AMA santuaned riding area so you should be OK,,I plan on making it myself,,should be a butt load of fun,,,I'd call them and ask though just to be sure,,,follow the links to there webpage..

Ok, first we have to set the date back 1 week b/c of the little problem of Easter which is on the weekend of the first date we had set. Sorry I didnt catch it sooner but I didnt have a calender with holidays on it handy.

Second, there is no age limit on how big the quad is you ride. Theres just one rule which is really stupid. If you are under 18 years of age then you must have a person 18 years of age or older to sign your registration form for you under your sig. Its gay, i know but i guess it keeps them from getting sued.

Third, everyone is welcome. We shouldnt put restraints on just EX riders only welcome. I plan on gettin a few of my friends to come but only one of em has an EX and my dad is bringin his Recon. LilGuyOn400ex's Dad, you are welcome to bring your quad and we hope you can make it. If you think you can get your wife into gettin a 400 for ya go for it :devil

Again, sorry for the date set back there but I honestly didnt know it was on an Easter weekend. Just make sure everyone knows that it isnt March 29-31 anymore and its April 5-7. Thx for your time everyone.
BTW, what should we do on meeting. We have a general area to meet but should we get a banner or somin on it? Ill be in a white chevy silverado with a blue horse trailer so i wont be hard to find. Any ideas though?

Here are some directions. If you can locate the Visitors center at LBL then your in excellent shape. Its not hard to find, just use the links i provided in a previous post until I can get an excellent map of the location and how you that dont know its exact location is to get there in general.

Is there any way we can get this post locked in at the top of the forum so we wont have to keep bumpin it back up? It would be very helpful.

hey,
thoes signs on ur 4-wheeler are just recomandations. they arent the law(for the state i live in oh). its the same with me. im riding a 250ex when i should be riding a 90 or whatever. anyway when i got mine, they told me that at the dealer

250exen is correct. The companies just put those labels on quads to keep them from getting sued. It isnt the law, just a recommendation.

LilGuyOn400ex
11-28-2001, 03:40 PM
its the the kentucky state law that if your under 16 u cant ride anything over a 90 cc quad look at the web page and go to regulations it says it there

Im only 15 and I ride up there on my 250ex and my friends go up there alot and one of em just turned 16 but he had his 400ex up there befor his bday and didnt have any problems either. Just as long as you have a parent/guardian sign the release form your set. Theres all kinds of kids my age and stuff that ride blasters and warriors....etc... They honestly dont care but if you are concerned about it then you can have your dad call the Visitors station and get info from there but you can get by alright....i had no trouble :D

Ok, I emailed Dirt Wheels a few mins ago......

Dear Dirt Wheels,

EXriders.com is holding a KY Trail Ride. There are two of us who have put it together for the most part so far. It is scheduled for April 5-7 in 2002 at the Turkey Bay OHV Park in Land Between the Lakes in West Kentucky. There will be meetings Saturday and Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in the main field by the entrance gate (located on your right as you enter the park) so the riders can get to know each other. Most of us are big fans of your magazine including me and we were wondering if you would like to join us on our ride. The Turkey Bay OHV park offers may options, including 4x4 and buggy trails, and ATVs and Bikes of any size with a proper muffler and spark arrestor are welcome. Here is the link to the Turkey Bay OHV site which gives some info and directions... http://www2.lbl.org/lbl/OHVGate.html We should have at least 100 riders or more by the date of the ride with all the people from exriders.com, their family and friends coming to join us. We are planning to make a banner to set up in the main field so everyone will know where to meet. We hope you can come out. Just get back to me at striker49_2@hotmail.com

Keep up the good job on the mags DW and we hope you could find some time in your busy schedule to come out and join our weekend event.

Lilguy and 250 exen,
Here is somemore food for thought on restrictions for quad: why is it that if I wanted to purchase a 300 EX for my son (14 years old) the atv dealer is not allowed by law to sell it to me but on the other hand if he wanted they could sale him a xr 400 dirt bike???? Beats the crap out of me. Here is another one for ya, while riding up at haspin acres my friends and I were watching some rail buggies climb some hills. A 13 yo young man riding his new yamaha 250 dirt bike crashes next to us as he tries to maneuver through some ruts in the trail. After wathching him try to get his bike up right for about 5-10 min. we had to get off our quad's to help him get it up right. I was always told if I can't pick it up it is too big for you.

My belief is that ALL motorized vehicles (quads, dirt bikes, go carts, etc) carry a potential for having accidents. That is why I feel that it is the parents responsiblilty to ensure their children ride a quad or what ever that appropriate for their size and skill level. This is why if think that having a parent sign you in is also appropiate at the LBL.

11-29-2001, 05:53 AM

If you guys are down with traveling, the best trails I've seen are the trails up in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Miles of wooded trails and a huge coal mine. They allow dirtbikes, quads and sand dune buggies up there. It doesn't cost anything to ride, but it is at your own risk.
