Hey guys, forst off i have to say i love this site, one of the most useful forums i have found.

Anyways i just got a 400ex off of a kid who claims it has a stage 2 or 3 jet kit(he wasnt sure) he told me that after he had it installed the carb leaks after running. Once you turn the fuel off it stops. Any ideas?

Either float is sticking or the float height is set to high causing it to keep filling the bowl and the overflow tube to run, unless the gas is shut off.

on the bottom of the carb is the nut. it leaks from there - i know there is supposed to be a washer - its not there. when I ck on OEM parts its shows it but is that a copper ring(washer)? Need to put it back - the kid must have lost it when he took it out to rejet.

yeah it's a scew bolt, u need the washer for sure, if it leaks out there, then you've found your problem.

i think it's called like the carb bowl cap or something???

Its a lil rubber gasket. I bet u could goto the lumber yard or a hardware store and find a gasket to fit. By the looks of the oem parts finders u can't just buy that one lil gasket. Its a gasket set for 20 bucks. just goto the hardware store and ask where there rubber o rings are. Oh yea take the bowl off the carb and take it with u

rubber and gas don't work together :( I'm sure its a different material, but I'm sure we agree that there is a type of washer in there.
