My son needs a new bike. He now rides a 250ex and the suspension just doesn't cut it for his riding style. He is right at five ft. tall and about a hundred pounds, will he out grow the Raptor in a year or two? Which has the better suspension? And which has the most power in stock form?

We have a Raptor 250 and really like it.

The only point i would make is that if you are going to race it there really arent any classes for it.

Almost all the classes are 300cc air cooled.

In the TQRA series there are alot of really nice Honda 300.

we beat 300ex 's all the time, you can mod the raptor 250 very easily.

The Raptor is a nice bike light and great geometry but on the race track it dosent have a chance against a national mx built 300 the 250 raptor is week in the head as wheel as the frame.

you will get more power from a 300ex, but the raptor does everything else much better, and on top of that, you will really notice the weight difference

08 se $3,300 OTD. I could find the blue or grey cheaper in my area but my son wanted the SE model, and this was the only one I could find in VA.

not bad, we just power coated our frame orange and got new white plastic for 2010...

what mods are you planning on to start?
are you going to be racing? if so what kind?

We have already installed the GYTR full system, GYTR air filter and skids. My oldest son races some of the district 13 mx races but my twelve year old likes the xc races, so I'm not sure what direction we will be going. I know we will race some of the local outlaw stuff and we are a 4-wheeling family that trail rides and we take trips to West Va. also. I'm not sure if we made the right choice with the GYTR pipe but he wanted it.
