Hey guys,
I've been riding my Ex pretty hard around a track, hoping to get enough seat time to where I'd be comfortable competing in local races this spring. I'm doing pretty good I think.
But that's not the problem. I'm still running stock pegs and my boots are sliding off them like crazy during hard turns. Today I hit a jump funny and I landed it slightly crooked, and when I leaned to correct it my boot went off my peg entirely. If I didn't have nerf bars I'd have ran over my leg. I'm tired of risking it.

Anyways, I was on eBay looking for new pegs for it and I found these extentions:

Are they any good? I don't like the idea of spending $250 on new pegs. I still need +2 arms and an extended axle and the extra $250 would break me. If there is any alternatives I'd love to know about them.

Still too much though.

Well if your doing this on the cheap you could try adding 450r pegs, I also saw a post, sometime back, where someone took the 450 pegs, the stock 400s and bolted them together. Just some ideas.

buy another set of stockers, sharpen yours and the set you buy, and weld together.. and woo-lah! custom pegs... cut and weld/bolt them how ever you please.

Alright, I'm a little apprehensive about cutting and welding my own, just in the instance that they would fail when I needed them the most.

How much wider are the 450r pegs? Is it a significant difference?

You need to check that extended pegs will fit.

Quite often bigger or longer foot pegs won't fit with standard nurfs.

The 250R I bought this summer the previous owner took two sets of pegs and welded them together and they look pretty good. They dont have that kickup which is nice but you do have twice as many teeth for your boot to stick to. If you dont trust your welding then put a couple bolts in there too for extra insurance. I think I still have some 450R pegs in my dads garage and im suppose to go there tomorrow so I will look for them and if I do give me your address and if you pay for shipping I will send them to you.

I made my own set from a stock pair. I welded on 1" flat stock to mine. I bent them to match the length of the peg and added 1/2" to the front of the peg. Then i added a kickup on the ends using the same stuff. I got the pegs on ebay used for 10 bucks and got the metal from my metals shop in high school. painted them black when i was done and they work great. I did not do the back since i have dg nerfs that ride along the back edge of the peg. I will see if i have any pics of them and post them when i get home. steve

If you find them PM me with a picture or something.

I checked and I could use the aftermarket ones if needed. I have the clearance.

It seems that the extensions wouldn't be that bad. I can get them for $40 if I look hard enough. They don't really increase width, but they look VERY sharp and have a kick-up. I'm still not sure if I want to spend the money on making my own set of pegs.

I used those, and I really like them. The only downfall is they chew up your boot a little, but I've been running them all season doing harescrambles and they hold up well

Aah finally someone who's tried them. Well I'm still growing, and my boots are used anyways. I'll probably get a new set next year. That part doesn't bother me.

I'd like to see what these modified stock pegs look like, if anyone has any pics?

Thats a deal on those Roll pegs considering I bought mine for $240 there the last pegs you would own period, I also rode on honda400ex2003's quad and his peg setup is really good for being stock I'd look into his if your on a budget.

I am on a budget definitely. How hard is it to sharpen the stop pegs with a dremel? It seems like something I could do, and I'm sure it'd help with grip.

I wouldn't do it crazily. But I would like having a bit more grip than I do now. Any ideas on what bit I should use? And I think that later this year I will get those extensions, just to try them. It's just $40. How bad could it be? I'll let you all know how it works

Yea I put a set on mine. I wanted to leave the stock heel guards on so i had to trim those a bit, but wasn't anything major. Although I drilled different mount holes in the maxi mizers so they would add more length to the peg. It did interfere with the fit of my nerfs some. That took a couple taps with a hammer to adjust the mount tabs on them. I was gonna post a pic with everything together but don't have a good one of the pegs.

I prefer the maxi mizer over the doubled stock pegs. I like the feel of rocking my foot on the narrower peg and the maximizer is pretty aggressive. Don't slip bolting them on, they will do a number on your knuckles. I recommend them. Good functional product and a bargain compared to aftermarket pegs.
