so i was changeing the oil in my bike today and as i was waiting for all the oil to drain so i took my head light off. i want to keep the nutral light and reverse light so im goiing to mount them under the fenders i allredy know how im going to do it, But the big problem is that no matter where i plug the nutral light into it wont light up.. the light works and ive tryed both powers and the green and red wire are connected to each outher... whats the problem?!? the light works and every thing so im lost.

have you checked the fuse?

if your talkin about the fuse on the side of the sub frame its fine because the bike runs so =o and the wires have power going to them.

no actually that fuse is for the neutral light, when it blows the neutral saftey switch tells the ignition not to start, thinking its in gear:), less than 48 hrs ago i found out the wire going to my neutral saftey switch is gone, i just got the bike and was trying to figure out why we had to short the starter to get it to start. After ohming out the entire wire harness i noticed the fuse was blown. After replacing the fuse i can now start the bike only when the clutch is pulled. The reason is the neutal saftey switch is still kicking in because of the missing wire.....check your fuse....after that check your switch

yes when you ran the wire from the battery to the neutral saftey switch or the plug for the light you will only be testing the bulb. There is a fuse on the battery side right in front of the battery. If that fuse is good, your neutral saftey switch is bad

look behind your shifter, there will be a wire (two if you have reverse) that plugs into a switch that screwes into the side of the motor. It will most likely have a rubber grommet over it. slide the grommet off and you will see whee the wires plug in, thats the switch. Pull the wires off and run a wire from the battery to where the wires plug in on the wire harness. Your lights should come on. After that disconnect the wires from your neutral saftey switch. now run the same test wire from your batt to the metal contact that the wires plug into on the neutral switch, this will let you know if your wires are bad or the switch, the switch was 15 bucks and the wire was 8 bucks

also, it can be the led, or small light bulb inside of the light, the sometimes burn out and dont work. you might wanna see if you can ohm the buld and see if there is a drop acroos the bulb, or if there is no current back to the bulb
