I just bought a new oem stator. I was wondering if I can advance or retard the timing anyway. and what benefits I would gain either way. I am new to the electrical aspect.

you can not advance the timing by slotting the stator holes. you need to move the pickuptap up. You pretty much have to get a timing advancer. Rpm makes a pretty nice one.

Yea hinson makes one also. they should be in every r imo, due to the beefed up bearing support
