Do I need to grind off the exhaust mount or will it bolt right up? Or will it not fit at all?

it should. try it..whats the worst that can happen? it dont work and you have to throw it away

no it wont work, for one thing you would have to cut the exhaust mount off, but after that the bolt holes dont line up

After doing a few searches it seems that a 04/05 grab bar will bolt right up to the 06+. Exhaust mount will need fab'd. Confused why the opposite would not work.

Does the 06+ grab bar that you are buying have the exhaust mount made into it?

Yes the PRM desert bar for 06+.

find one for 04 or 05 it isnt worth all the trouble

All you would have to do is cut the exhaust mount off. The mounts are the same.
