View Full Version : opinion's on spark plug color?

i'm thinkin it looks money, but would like to know what others think about my jetting...i live at 6000 ft and ride anywhere between 5000-9000 or maybe higher sometimes.
have a 38 pilot and 140 main, spark plug is cardboard color, and no real hesitations to speak of thru the whole throttle spectrum
think it would be a good idea to get a coule extra jets for different riding environments? or is it just as easy to just lose the airbox lid at altitude along with the adjustment screws?
the picture of the plug is after 6 hours of riding at 4700 ftduring the breakin of a new rebuild, but i live at 6000 and like riding in the mountains also, thanks in advance guys

looks pretty good to me. i would say that it is running pretty good. just my .02 though, steve

just what i needed to hear...thanks, although i'm still curious about if i should go to the dealer and get a could spare jets for if im up in altitude, or down at sea level...maybe get a 142 and a 148? im pretty sure 148 is stock

yeah 148 is stock, you could get the other one and then you should be set. have you ever looked into the dial a jets? they change automatically with altitude i believe. I wonder if anyone uses one on here? steve

this is the one i was thinking about. it says it puts more gas into the carb automatically with the load on the engine.
