identifing pep limited mass shocks...

my friend found a pair of pep shocks near his house and he wants to buy them... the guy claims they are almost new and wants 550$ they are for a 400ex... the thing that has me screwed up is my friend said they had black springs on them... pep has red white and blue:huh i know he could have gotten them powdercoated or painted somewhere so is there anyways on the shocks body or on rezzy or something i can identify that they are pep shocks not tcs or legacy or something...


also how can i make sure that they are not race series...

Well the biggest between the Race and Limited Mass is the LM have a 5/8 shaft and the Race only have a 1/2 like Works do. So if they shaft is bigger like your Elka's then they are LM. Now to check and see if they are PEP, I'm really not sure. You may want to call Baldwin and see if they say PEP on them anywhere besides stickers they put on them....

i will look for the thicker shafts for sure... they have to have pep stamped on them somewhere... i know zps has the lil chrome spring at the top...

Yeah and the new ZPS now have 4 Springs..... Ask somebody on here that has PEP's like 400MXer, Gabe, 400exRacerX, Etc.....

Another difference between LM and race, the rezzy's on the LM are larger then the race, also they have a compression nob on them. Also all the PEP's i've seen for EX's along with mine and my friends have chrome upper shock bodys, the area where the upper eye holes bolts up is usually chrome. never mind the damn kid lied they were works with painted springs:grr they had 1/2 shock shafts and no compression knobs... he thought he could sucker derek into it but we caught it

pep engraves there shocks, i know all of my shocks on my R and EX have there engraving on them, its either on the top of the shock mount itself or on the ressy, i dont remember, but they will definatly have some sort of markings on them.

YEah they just scratch it in, i just mean dont look for a big PEP stamp or anything.
