Sounds like a pretty good idea to me, I'll be watching it...

Yeah, at first, I thought...wtf...how many dollar bills are we shooting into the side of the moon? Then I think about all the things we probably have in our everyday lives we take for granted that happen from Nasa and the space program. There's a lot more cool stuff going on like that than we know about...or need to know about in my opinion.

idno we will see if were all still alive at 7:31 am EST

blast particles wont reach us until 7:34 and 12 seconds, most will hopefully burn up in the atmosphere. Just incase everyone wear steal pots on your head and lay under your mattress :D

Forget the particles, I'm worried about the change in gravity when the moon is blown into little pieces...

least now you will get half a hr of hang time instead of like a second!

i really think that it is a waste of money! who cares if there is water on the moon? there is some cool stuff that has came from nasa but they waste so much money its not funny!

they think that is where Osama is hiding.

I just wish they'd send Obama there first.

Then FIRE AWAY !!!

you need at least a 10-12 inch telescope to see anything. I doubt those of us on the east coast will even be able to see it because it will be daylight by 7:30am

rodeo#11
10-08-2009, 08:12 PM
yea.. it gets light around here at like 6:45am i was pretty excited

sweet, just checked out nasa's site. For those of us that don't have telescopes, aka 99% of this site :p ...here is the live video rodeo was talking about. You can already start watching if you want.

http://www.nasa.gov/externalflash/lcross-centaur-separation/

I'm going to watch from now until the impact tomorrow at 7:30.

wait wut

ok well apparently the live videos are done? wtf lol... Are they going to come back on tomorrow and show the rest? those videos were just the seperation of the rocket or something.

Edit- Here is the link for the actual impact. It starts at 6:15 am eastern time.

Step 1. Find water on the moon

Step 2. Colonize the moon

Step 3. Use the moon as a base to colonize Mars

Step 4. Profit?

lulz at the people thinking this is going to blow up the moon and all that. Do you realize how all those craters got on the moon? Big fcuking astroids or whatever(I'm not a science nerd lol). All this little missile is going to do is put a little hole in the moon.

rodeo#11

i dont think its the fact that ppl think the moon is going to blow up its just the idea that america is actually bombing the moon that is so ridiculous...well more funny than anything.

that thing sucks. everybody thought they were about to see this HUGE explosion fire ball with moon blown everywhere!and all you see is this ( ) nothing ????

ben300
10-09-2009, 09:32 AM
ya...the article never said that htey were gonna blow up anything....nasa was to crash a space craft at 6000 mph into the surface, or that big huge crater, cant remember its name, and then then hopefully kick up enough dust that the next space craft arriving 4 minutes later, would be able to find traces of water molecules....

hahaha...lol...stupid

matt14c
10-09-2009, 09:36 AM
Wouldnt it be easier to fly a couple morons up there to take surface samples or something? Thats IF we had ever been there in the first place!

Guy400

On the surface it may seem like a waste of money but the return on investment of other similar experiments has been huge for mankind. Things NASA has either directly invented or NASA partners have invented:

Invisible braces
Scratch-resistant glasses
Memory foam
Ear thermometer
Shoe insoles
Long distance telecommunication
Adjustable smoke detector
Safety grooves on runway landing strips
Cordless tools
Water filters

I, for one, am glad we're still investing in this type of research.

why colonize the moon? wasted money!
why colonize mars? wasted money last i checked we could still live on earth with out spending billions of dallors.

but i'm an idiot so please don't kill me on here lol!

you can stay here in 2012 or 13 when the world comes to an end or whatever they say. :D . without research things wouldnt get invented and materials wouldnt be found. let nasa do what they are doing.
