Petcock Vavle

The petcock Vavle on my tank was not working so i ordered a used one from ebay. Today i decided to take off the bad one and put on the other one. I grabbed the 8mm socket and went to work. WTF! why is this thing not coming off? The bolts spin but nothing happens. Whats the trick? Maybe im just stupid. Help. Be nice to me im new

did you do "lefty-loosey" or "righty-tighty-strippy" ?

ya im not that bad. i did just finish redoing my a arms so i am somewhat mech inclined. anyway i turn the bolts and they grab a little then then spin. then they grab a little then spin.

Iam wondering if the kid who owned this quad before me did that and F'ed it up. Tried to tighten it up and now its no good. any thoughts?
