2004ish honda foreman se problems

i have a 2004ish honda foreman se 4x4 that wont crank. it seems to spins over fine but it wont crank up and run. from what ive been told a little while before it quit working it started smoking but im not 100% sure :confused: i was just wondering if there might be something i could check out and possibly fix myself before i have to take it to a shop and have to spend way to much money to have it looked at. thanks

How much compression do you have? If it jumped time it won't start. Check these.

turns out it seems to be that it hardly has any compression. once i fix that ill check the timing also if it still wont crank. thanks!
