Pilot screw adjustment

So today i tried to clean the carb for the first time by following the service manual and my pilot screw has no screw head it is smooth on all sides. How do i take it out/ adjust it? i cant get it to turn at all. hopefully this isn't a retarded question.......

my 400 came already ready to go but the pred carb had to be taken out by getting a small drill bit screw it in then reverse it and itll come out.
