View Full Version : 2004 450r rebuild.

ok i have a 450r with a hrc kit only. That needs to be rebuilt (found more than a lil bit of metal shavings) it still runs strong neck and neck with a 2008 kfx450 with a pipe and cams. kfx had a lil edge. but i called rage and ask what i need and they said crank, 12/1 piston(pump gas), head job, port, and changed any tranny gears worn. said it would have 50 or more hp. the price would be around $2000 and thats guessing high... is this a good deal? i think it is but what do yall think? and would their be any way to get like 55hp or higher with pump gas? i was thinking maby a 470 kit would do it. would it still be reliable with the 12/1? thanks..

Is that $2000 for all the crank, piston, tranny parts, port work and installing everything? If so, that's a great deal for not doing it yourself.

You could probably come out a little cheaper if you did it yourself. Labor hours really start adding up when you start talking about replacing cranks and transmissions.

ya.. man i just tore my whole 05 down... split cases and everything pretty easy.. i got brandew cp 12:1 piston.. hotcam stage 2, new cam chain new guides.. new seals bearrings.. now just need to get a crank and i can put it all in lol.. and labor is free urself.. it only took 2 hours to tear it apart... just putting back together is the long haul...youl basically be paying a 1000 in labor..and almost thousand in parts..thats up to you.. trying to help you save a little cash...

yea thats it and he said that may be high.. yea i think its a good deal 2.. .................i have never torn into a 450r motor and ino it cant be that hard but i just want it to be done right and plus they tune it and dyno it after they build the motor. and i think i have worn parts so they check it all over... id pay they extra money just to get it fine tuned.... hopefully it will last even longer than stock but it still runs like a champ....... does any 1 know of anything eles i can do to put it over 55 hp on pumps gas? with out breaking the bank?...

i did c a $700 nos system on here thought about it... but i just want a bad *** all around quad that can drag!

a buddy of mine's uncle had one on his banshee... kinda showed me death in the future if i would ever ride it..he draggged it and i don't know why someone would want to go that fast lol with no metal guarding you..
