cylinder head cover

i was taking my carb off lastnite & notice small surface cracks in the cylinder head cover........is this normal? i'm guessing it's due to the head heating up? i didn't remove the cover, but it looks as if they aren't deep cracks.....any of you guys ever run into this?

maybe what your seeing is casting marks not cracks if its cracked it would proble leak oil so maybe your oky but watch it regularly or take it off and find out good luck:cool:
