It's time too move my son up. He now rides a 06 250ex, with a full HMF exhaust, high comp piston and a web cam. I know the suspension will be better on the 300ex, but will he be happy happy with the power of a stock 300ex or should just get him a 400?

300ex and 250x have perty much the same suspension..... as for power the 300ex has a little more but your modded 250x will take a stock 300ex....... I would personally go with a 400ex.. they are getting cheap now

Thanks for the info. The power issue is not a big deal, I could pipe and re-jet a 300ex and that should be good enough, it's the suspension. I'm thinking the 300ex would be way better than the pogo stick rear on his 250ex. He is only twelve, so I don't think I should put him on a 400 yet?

300 ex suspension is pretty crappy lol but its definatly better than the 250ex and yes he should be fine on the 300 with a pipe and rev box

always better to move up in cc's slowly...main thing on a 300 is just invest in suspension if he races...let him ride the 300 for 2-3 years and then go ahead and make the jump to a 450 when hes bigger and you feel he can master it

What would be better 300ex or Raptor 250? I would hate to see a Yamaha in my garage but I think the Raptor fits him better. He is also a very aggressive rider.

Actually the Raptor 350 would be a good choice if it fits him, but the Raptor 250 is a very good machine also.......try to see if you could somehow rent one or try to ride one first....thats always the best way before buying a new machine
