I have a 2004 that has 4 stripped bolts for the valve cover. Is there any place that sells the next size up bolt, so I don't have to do helicoils?

even if you do the next size up you'll still have to drill and tap.. just go to a hardware store and get some bigger bolts along with the matching tap if you really don't want to helicoil.

just helicoil....it includes everything, is super easy to do, and youd be doing everything the same your way minus screwing the helicoil in so where is the savings? time or moneywise

I know everything that's needed to drill and tap new holes, but finding the bolts need is the hard part. I was just wondering if a builder would carry the bolts.

the bolts are 6mm x 1.0 thread pitch...i know this from a recent experience. anyhow, go to napa to get the specific bolt you tap it for...they have a good selection, and the help arent dingbats

So a 6mmx1.0 is the next thread size up?

Thanks a lot. Hopefully my Napa can get what I need.

Ok, I should have known that the bolts were 6mm, but it has been about a year since I pulled the atv apart.

I'll be taking my head up there to help determine whats needed. Thanks you have been a big help.
