hello all. just thought i'd make a thread to show a few changes i'm making.. my new burgard +1 antivibe stem came in today.. this is all i can show you so far. i have a few small parts at the powdercoater. i'll show pictures of everything as it sits next weekend when i go home. i guess i'm just really bored :p

Pipeless416

alba makes a clamp that holds boths ur keys and lights. and they have a clamp that holds just the lights

matt14c

How are your lights mounted now? Sandwhich between the bottom clamp and stock stem?

i just drilled 3 small holes in the top plate on the stem.. this burgard stem doesnt have an area for that. a simple bracket will do the trick.

anyway, got a few little things powdercoated. the red was supposed to match the a arms and other small parts, but i guess the guy got confused..:p i still think it looks awesome, and he didn't charge me anything. the two exhaust tips and my new RAD locknut are kind of black with like red sparkle. its definitely different.

its hard to show it without a good camera..

Pipeless416
10-09-2009, 10:04 PM
oh yea, i'm at it again haha. tore it down to the frame in a few hours. its bad when you get that good at it. i just took this in case anybody was interested to see how the pipes are routed. i was never able to get a shot like this.

Pipeless416
10-09-2009, 10:07 PM
ive decided to have the frame powdercoated satin black with metal flake. i will also be adding gussets in a few areas and checking everything over for cracks.

on another note, its a little sickening seeing how much money i have spent when its all laying in front of me like this. :o :blah: A.A.D.S.

ridings out till thanksgiving lol. i would have loved to meet up but i'm going to a chevelle/halestorm concert in milwaukee tomorrow while the rest of the family is going camping. my original plan was to knock this out between thanksgiving and christmas, but i decided i would be too busy with finals and such. definitely let me know how you like the tires when you get to use them. i was going to buy them off of my dad if you didn't :p

heck, with as often as you pull that thing apart,...

I'm figuring that you'll wear out a good socket and ratchet set, long before you ever wear out the quad! LOL!!!

I'm pretty sure that it will be far too emotionally stressfull to try and figure out where to mount your lights.
Being that I am just such a concerned fellow rider, and am only offering this because I care,...

I'll be glad to trade stems with you.
mines straight, and can still mount the light bracket.

Since I still run oem plastics, and stock lights, that nasty ol' Burgard you've got there, will go right onto mine, and not cause any problems.

I only extend this graciousness because I like you.
I'm such a "Giver".

Little tip for the steering stem since I see you dont have it clamped yet. I had to put a washer in between the two clamps on one side because when tightened down to spec in the manual it was too tight and I didnt want to leave it loose. Not sure if you will have the same problem but just in case.

Knowing you, you'll probably get it back in and all together,....
then decide that you want to pull it back apart to have the complete engine polished to look like chrome !!!

haha, there's really only one thing left to do.. rims! i think i should just have the engine chromed :D . that would make things easier. as far as wrenches.. i'll just say that i would love a new set for christmas :p i really just need to ride the dang thing. i have only had like 15 minutes of seat time on this new rear suspension setup.. in the back yard

Seriously though, lookin' very good.

must be nice to have a brother who completly rebuilds your bike after each time you get a spec of dust on it !

11-14-2009, 05:17 PM
thanks Ron.. i do need some new grips if i plan on ever reaching 480 mph! i think my brother is still paying me back from when i rebuilt his engine and painted everything on his quad while he was at summer camp a couple years ago! ps- ashley wants all of us to get together at glamis someday! be prepared for a lot of shinanigans.

480?, Why stop there ?, go for Mach 1, LOL !
With some of the current reasoning, all you'd need is 62/8 gearing, some 44" tires, and a +18000 over rev box.

Glamis would be a blast to ride with you guys/(gals). I'm pretty sure that Ashley would have an instant siamese twin once my daughter met her in person !

Dude that looks SICK!! I'm really liking the color scheme. Simple with just enough color and bling....I like your style

Keep posting the pics as you can!

Hey i'm curious about one thing since im in the same boat right now. How did you clean up all the threads in the frame after sandblasting? I even had bolts as "plugs" in every hole in my frame during blasting and they still felt kinda gritty afterward. I may buy a thread chasing set but i'd rather not drop another 60-70 on a kit if I don't have to.

Pipeless416
11-14-2009, 06:25 PM
thanks man! as far as the threads, the guy who does my pc'ing plugs the holes during blasting with rubber plugs, so nothing really happened to them. i have had other things blasted without anything blocking the threads at all (subframe.) i haven't had any problems with threads stripping or anything.

tri5ron
11-14-2009, 06:26 PM
Nacs,
run over to Harbor freight tools and spend 3 bucks on their small sized, brass bristle, bottle brush set.
that should do the trick for you.

11-14-2009, 06:54 PM
Cool thanks guys. I was thinking along the same lines about maybe using pipe cleaners, but the bottle brush with some WD40/Brakleen might just be the ticket :)

hey pipeless, are you getting new fenders too?

Pipeless416
11-16-2009, 10:50 PM
nope, i wish i could afford the maier white carbon fiber print plastics, but until then it'll be the stock red race cuts with the quad tech hood. i have to say, i do love my rears since i cut them though. thats the other thing. i couldn't cut brand new plastics to my liking without feeling guilty.

Aww Heck, I've NEVER done anyting like that....
YEAH RIGHT !!!
how about putting a couple of gallons of gasoline into a diesel tank, before realizing what you were doing ? been there, done that ! So your not the lone ranger when it comes to the Bonehead Awards ! LOL !

Never admit to those things, LOL! The bike looks great. Very jealous except for the fact that I've got Spider grips and you don't. Cheapest mod out there and tri5ron can attest that it will add 30mph to your ride :D :D :D
Hahaha, I think you've got them on the wrong sides.
Switch them over from left to right, and you should be good for Mach II.
:D :D :D

^^^ whoever's ex that is, did a gooood job. only one thing I'd change, powdercoat the heal guards to match the rest of the black. i'm hoping my bike will eventually look that way.

X2, your quad definitely has come a long way

Fantastic job on the rebuild, looks so nice! Everything is like new and improved on it, it's a badass EX for sure. Definitely gotta give you props for keeping it old school with the 400 too :p

I like that GTT skid a lot, might have to pick one of those up for trail riding hmm lol. Though I gotta ask ya, no chassis skid to go with it!? That fresh PC on the frame might thank you  :D

thanks a lot guys. i really appreciate it. as far as the chassis skid.. oddly enough, thats the one place that i actually never really had to touch up when it was painted. i don't really ever high center on the frame or anything, though the frame might touch now with this link. the quad is already HEAVY.. and even worse now with the 'busa battery. the wallet is considerably light however.. :blah: i do love the GTT skid though. its super beefy and i definitely don't think i'll have a problem with it. just need to get used to the clanking of the chain on the steel  . i still haven't been able to go riding! this is killing me.
