I think I lost 5th Gear

Well, I was heading down a straight away at my last race and clicked into 5th and nothing. I'd hit the gas and hit the rev limiter and wasn't in gear anymore. I got back to the pits and shifted it all the way to fifth and it would engage for a little bit and then kick out and make a ratcheting sound? any idea what my problem is here?

did u ever hav a hard landing on the gas in fifth gear..this is what happened to my third gear

no, not that I know of. the field section was rough though and I had made one lap before it happened.

sounds like a tooth on the fifth gear either wore down or broke
