Plating is going to run you about $200 no matter where you go. You might find someone to do it cheaper but you may end up with cheap results. Of course there is a charge for stripping the old plating which will bring up to about $300. I would go with millennium to have it done.

as stated you may find someone to do it "cheaper" than what's been posted but you may very well get what you pay for and quite honestly thats not an area of which i'd wanna cut a corner on.

if it is not flaking or chipped or peeling there should be no reason to replate it unless your building a high tolerance race motor if it hones straight n the bore is not egg shaped

go get some muratic acid(hardware store) n melt off the aluminum just paint it on witha paint brush. n then see if you can grab those areas with your finger nail if its actually the coating missing or just added aluminum.

after applying muratic acid to all the spots you can visually see if it is not catching your finger nail or clear the coating is gone or lower then the bore size then dont recoat it id run a new piston and just pull the jug after say 20hrs n check er out.

i seized 3 pistons in one cylinder and pretty bad muratic acid ate the aluminum right off boom new piston bam start er up

man I don't think he's talking about the out side and making it look pretty. mx bikes don't have cast sleeves, they are plated, or nikkasil. depending the brand, you cant just bore them to the next size. kinda like Duncan pc2000 cylinders.

*shrug tried to help

i cant tell from the pic but one pic looks like just a chunk of aluminum on the nikasil not holes or chips off of it.

muratic acid would eat out the aluminum from the cylinder wall n make it nice n ready to be honed if the nikasil is intact

yes cast aluminum outside, with cast/machined steel sleeve press fitted into the cylinder. which holds the one and only bore size and this steel is coated with nikasil

muratic acid will bubble off the aluminum from pistons ona nikasil cylinder or a regular steel borable cylinder its pretty cool.

dont breath the fumes though n becareful.
