bought a 400ex yesterday that needs a little tlc. first of all, the little plastic box on handlebars that houses the on/off switch and light swithes, what is it called? (to look it up on ebay). and what is a good way to clean up a head pipe(curtis sparks has rust). and what is the little thing that goes on top of the spark plug called? (its just a wire, he said his dog bit it and pulled it off). thanks, neil

the little plastic piece would be a plastic dash or handlebar cover. You could probably find one very cheap on this site in the classifieds. what year is the 400? (i have no clue if the plastic dash changed through the years). theres on on ebay for a 2005 though. Looks beat up though. Not a great deal if you ask me. But is it the right one your looking for?

400ex Plastic Dash (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-HONDA-400EX-400-EX-PLASTIC-DASH_W0QQitemZ370250844464QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotor s_ATV_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5634ab8930&_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116)

Check this for the spark plug wire.

Spark plug wire (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-TRX-400ex-1999-2008-OEM-Ignition-Coil-Plug-Wire_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQh ashZitem2556919da4QQitemZ160366173604QQptZMotorsQ5 fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories)

That has the coil attached to the wire. I don't have a 400ex but I guess its one piece or attachted to it with some kind of connecter. If a dog ripped it off then you might as well buy that whole set up there.

As for cleaning the pipe, mine was always dirty and I could never get it perfect again. It was always a burnt redish color from the dirt :(

Ohhh I gotcha. Just type in 400ex start switch and a whole bunch will come up. They are all pretty much the same price. $50. Heres one.

A wire wheel is about the only way to get the "mudrust" off a headpipe. You can eventually get it off my scrubbing, but it would take forever.

I've always sandblasted my pipes, and then went over them with a wire wheel. It will make it a shiny, silver color.
