Is anyone in the same situation as me? I've been working nightshifts for about 6 months and now when I dont work I can't sleep during the night. :(

I'm on a 2-2-3 schedule ( 2 off, 2 job, 3 off, 2 job, 2 off, 3 job etc... ) so I already loose a weekend out of 2. God it's starting to drive me crazy but at the same time working at night is sooooo much better! No boss to push you around, nightshift bonus and this hot chick working with me... :D

i rotate through all three shifts every 4 weeks...that first week back on 7am to 3 pm is always a struggle to get to sleep at night...and weekends when i am on the 11 pm to 7 am shift are useless for me to try to sleep at all

i used to work 12 hours a day for 3 days...then have 4 days off always 7 to 7...i would do 7 weeks on nights with the 4th week being a 6 day week( sunday through tuesday night for the first 3 weeks, week 4 was sunday through friday night, weeks 5-7 were wednesday night through friday night) it was real hard to get any sleep at night on my days off after week 2...

Mine weren't necessarily "Night shifts" It was more like early mornings lol. I had to be at work at 4:30a.m. so I had to get up at 3:30. Now that sucked, beaue you had to wake up in the MIDDLE of the night. I could like work till 3 or 4 in the morning, but not get up and be at work @ thatime lol, Plus I was stocking a -10 degree freezer! Brrrrrrrr :p

I got one better than that. We work 5 different shifts over a 10 week period. Firsdst shift is mon. tues 0730 to 1600, however, you may be call in to work the other shifts if someone call. THen off on weds., thur., and Fri. and work 12 hours on Sat. Sun. from 0000 to 1200. Next shift is 0800 to 1600 Mon. thurs Fri. with Sat and Sun off. Next shift is 0000 to 0800 Mon. threw Fri. with Sat. and Sun. Next is off on Mon. threw wed. work thur. and Fri. 0730 to 1600 , and work 12hour on Sat. and Sun. 1200 to 2400. THe final shift Mon. threw Fri. 1600 to 2400. This shifts are two week long. THe 0730 to 160 are ours v/s people. So when someone take off or call in yu have to cover for them. You thought you had a hard time sleeping. I have been doing this for past 15 years.

I normally work 4 10's....2:30PM till 12:30AM, Mon. -Thur. I've been doing for the last 4 years and the 2 years before that I did 5 8's, I like the 4 10s much better. Though now my hours are cut to 32hrs a week. I work 2:30PM till 1:30AM on Monday and Tuesday with a normal 2:30 to 12:30 on Wed.....I have been doing that since this past March....4 days off are pretty sweet.

A lot of you guys have weird schedules with different shifts....that would suck.

I have worked swing for 15 years now and it SUCKS! MY sleep gets pretty messed up when we travel to an out of state race where I have to get up early then back to nights again.

My ole man has had a very tough time as he drives triples out of state daily and drives back home all in one day . He works graves and just recently had to get on perscription meds to sleep. :ermm:

I've worked that nite shift for 2 years, you better ride that out as long as you can. went to 5 8's on days and at first it was okay. then we went to 4 10's on day's 5-330 pm and that is a drag. Wouldn't do it again, i hope.

To me it's a breeze on 2nd shift most of the time......... if you don't keep yourself busy then it does drag but I try and keep myself busy usually running 2 machines. I run CNC horizontal mills, so especially if I'm doing a setup for the next job (depending how simple or complex the parts are)...it makes the time fly...or if I'm running a fast cycle time part.

i worked all summer on a 4:30 pm to 3:30 am 4-5 days a week and i wouldnt trade it for nothing i loved the night shift, sleeping through the hot days and working in the night (not exactly cool but not near as hot as days) besides its not near as crowded

roads are clear to play speed racer all the way home at 3:30am

pays better

no traffic

honestly i would accomplish more stuff on my days off, since i would be up all night i would get bored and i would constantly keep my bikes, veichles, and r/c cars clean and maintained it was great....

just remember to go to sleep about 30 minutes before the sun is out (if i stayed up too long it was HARD for me to go to sleep if the sun came up)

My mom was the same.

She worked nights for years and it really screwed her up. It's been 5 years since she last worked nights and she still can't sleep at all during the night. Everyone that I know that has worked steady nights for years has the same problem.:ermm:
