i am looking at getting a new 4.0 gallon ims tank and wanted to know if i have to modify my fullbore fenders for the tank to fit? do they have to be trimmed at all.

Unfortunately, trimming is necessary to make it work.

is it just very light trimming or do you really have to cut them?

Had to trim mine up around the front of the tank. If you have Fullbore's you can tell how much has to come off. I also made my own front mounts to raise the fenders to match the front step on the tank. Its worth it for the extra gallon of fuel.

A 2"cutoff wheel on a die grinder and then I took a file to the rough edges. Came out just fine.

This was the 3rd set of fenders that I cut.

Yes, thats my latest Lonestar. It has propeg front mounts with factory 88-89 rears.

Regular flat stock steel from the local hardware store. Easy to cut, bend and drill. I raised the front about 1-½ inches. It makes the tank look much less obtrusive.
