what should i do

i have an 06 300ex. i put some money into it like an exhaust, fenders, and skidpatetes to name a few. my brother wants to sell his his 07 400ex the quad doesnt even have 20 hours on it. he has a couple small things on his. should i sell the 300 and get the 400?? i am 18 and want someting faster

IMO save up till you can get a 450 cause geting the 400 wont satisfy you for long and you'll be spending money trying to make it more like a 450 when you coulda just waited abit longer and got a 450 and spend your money making IT nicer.

Ive had 2 400ex's one about stock and one with a fully built 416 engine and ive had 2 450r's one about stock and one with a 479 big bore kit and some goodies and believe me idc if id have to stay another year on the 300 if i could get a 450 after that id do it.It would be WELL worth it to me.

i agree with S.A.J . ive had two 400s also and there is nothing like riding a 450 even if you have a bored 400. if you do end up going for a 400 though that is alot better than nothing:cool:

i have both.. when i ride the 400 isn't anything near to my 450... when i ride the 450 there is just a wild beast between my legs... and you can always upgrade the 450 to bigger...to make your arms rip off...

bigger isn't always better, i learned that the expensive way...

if i didnt race and just rode trails and fields around my house i would pick my z400 over my r450 any day...cheaper...lot more reliable

will your brother give you a good deal since he is after all, your brother. You know whether hes taken care of it and stuff so that helps as well. But like most said, you'll want a 450 soon after you get the 400. They're nice, but nothing crazy. If he'll give you a great deal then go for it.

i don't really have any desire to get rid of my 400 for a 450..its as fast as i need it to be, and its a tank that handles like its on rails. parts are cheapish, and i think 400's have kind of that old school uniqueness to them.

i found an 04 or 05 450r on craigslist for 3900. it has a bunch of extras. i'm getting some more pictures today. i'll need some help on determining what its worth

What kind of riding do you mostly dns1764?That also plays along with what would be a smarter choice for you.

IMO a 450r is a better all around quad but keep in mind all i did was drag race with friends,fly down backroads,and the occasional track/trail so i never got into anything serious as in racing,so if you live in tight place with buncha trees and not much WOT room then 400ex might be perfect with some mods,but if not heck id go with 450r hands down-notice the IMO,dont wana start nuthin.

The ONLY thing i liked about my 400ex's better was that it was easier to do slowwwwww wheelies on them where that almost impossible on the 450r's cause theyre so high strung.Other than that the 450's suited my needs MUCH better.If you look around and have patience you can find yourself REALLY good deals on them,who knows you may have found one already.Guess we'll see :)

Minus the extra power a 450 has, I like everything about the 400 better. But that's me :o :p
