Hi guys - need some opinions,
I have always used the good old outerwears and a milk jug
to keep the filter and carb as water proof as possible without too many problems. This past weekend, I had more trouble jetting than ever for that rig - would not run right (Tom's LOL right now as he saw us pull off with the holeshot :).
Anyway, anyone tried the old stock snorkel setup with success ?
How did it affect your jetting. I have one I'd like to try.
Hey Tom - We got home and I pulled off everything and
quad ran perfect again ! Stupid mud !
So, just wondered if that's something someone else has
tried with success. hope to find a solution that would
make jetting easier. Any ideas appreciated - we plan to
find time to test some stuff.
Thanks !

PS: Tom - Congrats to Alisha on surviving the weekend with a 1st.

Thanks for your bad luck. She was pretty excited. I think my boy was more excited than her though. He said to me "hey dad, did you see me pass the #6 bike. I must be getting fast because #6 is usually way out ahead of everybody." I didn't tell him Travis was broke down on the side of the track when he went by him. It's funny how a 6 year old sees things.

That was one of the muddiest races I've ever been at. My 450R could barely pull through it in some spots. Anyway hopefully there is a better air filter solution. Luckily, our washer fluid jug trick worked for us.

See you on the 11th.

that's funny !
We hope to have the new 90 ready for the last race
too, so we can tangle with Danny and the boys.
I think we will like the new quad a lot. Really like to
try the old snorkel system and see if that works
for the new quad. Travis talked to his buddies
on the 90s and told them he's comin' !!!
I don't think THEY are going to like the new quad
very much. Sucker is fast ! (Thanks Troy :)
Any guys have experiences let me know...

With a 09 drr90 we saw a 3hp loss with the snorkle. On the 09 drr50 we saw no change. Snorkle on and snorkle off only change besides jetting.

My suggestion is you go back to the ol' milk jug trick.
Just this time don't use an outerwear it does restricts airflow, robs power, and runs like crap. On our DRR, we tried everything from the expensive snorkel, modified versions, dryer vent hose, pop bottles, & by far the milk jug works best especially in WA where it always rains and turns into a sloppy mess. We use plenty of notoil filter spray (no outerwear) . Just make sure to puncture the milk jug about 20-40 times with a utility knife, allows more air in and somewhere for the water to go.

One of the newest inventions for keeping water out of the carb,
we parked the DRR & bought a Cobra. The carb is located in back of the motor like a dirtbike. :D

Is this the ToddL I just picked up boots & riding gear from?

yup that's me :)

You might be right on the outerwear with the jug, but that
is what I've done in the past. I think I'll try no outerwear or jug, then stop him and put just the jug on and see if it runs the same.
Could have been my jetting was a little off and then the jug and outerwear made it bad enough that it wouldn't run right.
Of course I had no time to test it or fix it with the situation
we had to deal with - it was a one shot better be right thing.
Any other ideas appreciated. Hope the boots & stuff are OK.

see the post by bulldogfallon about the new carb relocation kit.

from reading the post it puts the air filter in the battery box of the quad - I think he's going to post pics of an install and performance results soon. For 125 bucks it would be a no-brainer if it works!

yeah, that's what I was thinking too.
I just wanted to see a pic from Gary
and see how it works. It would be nice
to just have it that way all the time and be
protected regardless of weather.
better for jetting too from day to day I think.
Hope to see soon !

Glad your enjoying the quad. Its nice to see another racer get excited to race it :)

Ill check up from time to time and see hows he doing!
