nerf mount design, good enough?

ok so i made a thread earlier but i cant find it and i have looked 3 times.

on the mounts for my nerf bars that mount exactly like a pro peg. I made the plate that bolts to the frame where the peg goes and welded the tubing on to it but im not sure if the tubing is long enough? its about 3 inches long and im not sure if thats long enough to support 200 pounds or not.

I havnt made the front mounts yet but how far should the tubing go into the nerfs?

imo the pegs should be atleast as long as what the peg(foot rest) portion of the nerfs are. :cool:

well mine dont have the foot rest on the nerf, you still use the stock pegs. I would like to add some later. Maybe i will make a new one, how long should it be? how long are the mounts on the pegs you sent me a pic of? how long should the tubing go in the front of the nerfs?

i see. i would make em at least as long as what stock foot rests are.


the front should extend onto the nerf about the same amount of distance as what there rear does at the foot peg. follow me?

alright i will make another mount. The pipe is a really weird size, when i measured it with my micrometer i got .995 which is just under an inch. maybe beucase its rusted or something but im having a *****in time finding flat 1 od tubing! i can only find like 1.12 and thats to big!

you making pro pegs from aftermarket steel nerfs? or fabbing up some home made using thin tubing?

i have a set of dg alluminum nerfs. And they use mounts exactly like pro pegs, but when i bougt them the mounts werent included.

ohhhhhhhhh ok. thats cool then. i mistook you to be using thin steel as nerfs. you looked into using "black" gas pipe as the peg mounts? it's thick wall. or maybe going to a steel supply? they'll dayum near give you stock from the trash barrels. :D

ill have to see if that is exactly one inch. but thanks for the info!
