i was pointed toward this thread on another forum and i gotta say up front if you dont like to see blood, meat, and bone. then you prolly should not look.

but dont worry he is left handed and its not like you need to use the front brakes anyways :o

moral of the story, if you want to lose your fingers go play with an axe, if you wanna clean your chain get a stiff bristle brush and DONT PUT IT IN GEAR! or even have it running....

He had his grunge brush laying beside him! I took the time to read through all the pages... Funny as hell! and a couple *****wipes of course.

I have to admit... I have never done that with the engine running, but have done it while turning the wheel by hand...

i personally wouldnt hound the guy for it, i mean what are you gonna get across to him that he dont already know. Everyone does something unexplainibly dumb once in awhile and gets hurt even though they really knew better than to do that.

for instance, i was working with my father and he was Kicking over nails on a pallet we had halfway taken apart. He told me to help that he didnt want anyone to step on them :chinese: i told him no, that i was wearing tennis shoes and that he shouldnt be doing it either and to just let me run to the truck and get a hammer (about 130 yards away) and of course the boss (my dad) is always in a hurry, and i swear the next one he went to kick over he stomped it all the way through his boot and foot :eek2: when he jerk his foot up up came a 5 foot long 2x4 hanging from his foot  you can call me what he called me but i honestly hit the ground laughing and couldnt breath for a minute. he was screaming and kicking and hopping around. i still give him crap about him stomping nails on a regular basis.

honestly nothing like thats happened to me but im sure it will someday so ill wish him the best because times like those you pretty much learn the lesson instantly.

I sorry, but I just can not feel any sympathy here.
That is simply dumber than a box of rocks.

The man says he is mechanically inclined, yet he knowingly, and intentionally, stuck his hand, in a piece of moving machinery.
brilliant!

would you feel sympathy for "Joe" who gathered up some firewood,
(he put he bike up on the stand),...

Then "Joe" stacks the wood into a nice little tee-pee, and lights the fire,
(he started the bike, and put it in gear),....

Then "Joe",
knowing the fire is hot,
sticks his hand into the flames and gets third degree burns,
(self explanatory parallel here)

would you feel sorry for "Joe" ???

Maybe someone should tell this guy that it is not a good idea to check his fuel level at night time,
Using a Lighter !
(yeah, there's a video of some bonehead doing that with a freaking Tanker Truck somewhere !!!)
and guess what,.... I cant feel sorry for him either.

When I was about 8 years old that happened to a friend of mine. A moped was up on the kickstand and it was running and for some reason he stuck he hand in the chain. It pulled his middle finger through the sprocket and took the end off.

I took the end of my cousin's finger off pushing a bike into the bed of a truck. His finger got caught in the chain (which I didn't know) and I shoved her in.

Yup... Fingers and moving sprockets don't mix... I've seen it happen right in front of me, to my buddy. I believe he was reaching for a broken reverse level on an old suzuki (either 230 or 185, I forget). 1 second later, tip of middle finger gone.

I gotta say though, that guy really did a number to his fingers. That is gruesome! I couldn't imagine the pain! just think of the feeling when you slam a hammer down on your finger nail.... Times 100! OUCH! :ermm:
