I have a 2005 450r and a carb off a 2008 kicker the tank wont fit and i dont want to cut the carb anyone have any ideas on what tank i need i know the 06-07 have a diff part# then the 08 wich one will mount to my 05 everything els fits fine i thought the er carbs was the one with fitment problems

i would say you need a 04/05 tank.

the heat shield under the tank is different now than it was on the first generation R's....maybe that is your issue?

the one i have is one off an 05 and it wont work question i have is will a tank off a 06 up work due to the carb.

got it togather now have a 45 pilot instead of the 42 still not big enough 3 turns out still have a off idle hessatation i am going to try the 48 off the stock carb and see where that gets me still not sure what gas tank i need if someone can give me an answer????

I just installed the 48 pilot out of the stock 05 carb, alot better still needs bigger still popping on decell and runs better with the chock on, will try a 50 unless someone can give me another suggestion. I have a 55 leak jet and a 185 main and it seems wright on top it is a bored carb keep in mind. And i am going to get a tank off a 06up i think it will solve my clearence issue i hope

your pilot seems fine around 42-48 usually, fuel screw should only be around 2 turns out typically but it all depends on altitude. if your trying to get rid of off idle bog- take the accelerator pump diaphram out and grind half of the rivet off. Then adjust the screw for the adjuster on the A/P linkage so the screw just contacts it and then wire it to the throttle link. i tried finding the post on thumper talk for it but couldnt. try google searching for A/P mods on FCR on google or something and it should help you

it is 3 turns out but starts better and runs better then it did im going to try a 50 pilot first it still pops on decell unless the chock is on. if the 50 dont i will try what you suggest just hope I dont have to after you get past the hessatation it sceams then pops back to idel the pipe is getting real hot ideling to. Its not unheard of to have a 50 on these carbs although many run 45-48. do you know if a tank off an 06 will clear my carb.

yea i believe the 06+ tanks will clear your carb because the carbs are all the same on 06-09 bikes except R and ER but the tanks are the same for R and ER so it should work, i heard the 08+ tanks wont work though, not 100% on that though

well i hope so because im going to oder a 06up ims from dinnis kirk on clearence for $197. my honda dealer isnt open today so i cant get the 50 pilot

well ive got the fifty pilot in today starts so much better still pops but not as bad almost no hessatation will the needel or needeljet come into play at all or should I go up one more time when I turn the fuel screw almost all the way out it dosent seem to pop anymore?

its non ajustable I guess ill get a hrc needel for it or a crf off a 06

check was short couldnt afford the needel anyone have an 06-07 tank for sale
