Shifter Questions

I was just wondering if anyone has tried a TRX450r shifter on a 2003 CRF450r motor. Pretty much I would just like to know if the splines are the same. If you did what year did you get the shifter off of? Or if you used something else that fits let me know.

What's wrong with using a crf shifter?

it won't work, a trx450r shifter is the same as 85-89 250r. Its not even close to fitting on the dirtbike motor. I modded my crf shifter so it sits higher w/o hitting the chain. I heated it and bent it up. Thats the only thing I can think thats wrong with the crf450r shifter on a quad.

What I would love to get would be a forward kick starter conversion.

We haven't gotten pegs yet but it seems it would be way short and seem hard to shift, plus I HATE folding shifters. If I could find a CRF shifter that wasn't folding I'd get that. We've gotten the kick start problem solved; now we just need to get some mounts welded up, and find the money tree to get the rest of the parts.

i just extended my crf shifter. i cut it in half and put a plate on it. im a size 13 boot so the stocker definetly wasnt cutting it.

I think that's what I'm going to do except get a steel one so we can weld it so it doesn't fold.

there's a company that sells extended shift levers for the crf, i don't remember the name of it maybe someone will post up the link. or you could just modify the stock one.

I think the company you might have been thinking of is Hammerhead. I'm sure we'll come up with something.
