1. I have a 2007 Outlaw 500 and when i press the starter button it spins and will occasionlally catch. What could cause this?

2. Also when i take off about 1/10 times it will make a grinding sound mid-way through letting out. I think it may be the same problem as above, but not sure. What could cause this?

Please any input will be greatly appreciated.,
Jarrett

There is a clutch on your starter drive that may be sticking. May need replaced, or possibly lubed?
(At least I assume the 500's are this way?)

the starter spins and then catches or the motor turns over for awhile before it starts?
either way it still runs right?
if the starter clutch (one way bearing) is going out you will start to be noisier when not starting (ie turning over but not catching) and will start to make a loud kickback occasionally when letting off the starter button. They are not rebuildable or lubable as they are swimming in oil all the time anyways.

thats what i was thinking i just wanted some assurance. im not sure how to get the flywheel off without a puller though. I think that clutch is causing the noise when i take off too. And it does make a loud sound when i turn it off sometimes.
Thanks,
Jarrett

you can't get the flywheel off without a puller BUT it doesnt need to be a polaris special order puller it takes the same as a metric bike. I search and let you know which one it was.
