I don't know of many motard bikes though. whats the best one off of the showroom floor? The only 2 I know of are the DRZ400 and the Ktm525 are they any good?

Since you are from PA... what kind of hoops did you have to jump through to get it PA legal/titled/etc.?

I actually just posted a thread on Thumper Talk today about this same question.

Very nice ride.

theres a thread on what you have to do to get one licensed in what state on supermotojunkie.com and you can usually look up the laws on your state's dmv. I got mine legalized, inspected, then stuff started disappearing on my bike. I no longer have a horn, a mirror, and I don't have front blinkers in the pic. I bought mine as a pure dirtbike and converted it myself. I would reccommend buying one already plated and ready.

haha these things are fun but the only time you would regret it is when someone with a 600 shows up.

600? I say bring it. (on a tight road with no straightaways) :D

What I like about it is flinging it around, jumps, stoppies, wheelies, etc. You do a stoppie on a 600, and listen to the thud. Then do one a motard and it doesn't make that thud. Thats what they're made for.

my buddy in md bought it new in dirt form and coverted it so i didnt have to jump through hoops in pa. its not hard to build one and title it though. all you have to do once you are ready to title it is get a specially constructed vehicle form from penndot and get the inspector to fill it out. then take a pic from all 4 sides of bike. send pics and form back to penndot along with cert of origin and they will send you a tittle, or you can take that stuff to them and get it on the spot.

that ktm is very nice!

yes, the bike was at ellicott city motorsports. the previous owner was friends with the owner.

thanks for the love!

Just some of the different options to look at with super motos.

I love the KFX! Nice bike!

A buddy of mine got a KLX110 plated and registered out of state and rides it legally here in NY all the time. It's a little too small and I'd feel pretty uncomfortable riding it in traffic myself, but the idea is just hilarious.

Yamaha makes the WR250X if your just a beginner. My buddy has one and does some mad stoppies. Fun lil bike, not a powerhouse but it's still fun.

We've had a couple Aprillia's and even a few Husqvarnas pop up around here. There's a few Huskies on there now and they're even more of a steal than that.

That thing is sick!! I've wanted one of those for the longest time, but I'm leary about riding on the street with little old ladies trying to kill me all day. I have to say, though, I think you're best chance for survival is probably on one of those, being able to throw it around so easily.

Snowskidr

its easy to be killed on the street on any bike but you can definitly manuever alot better on a motard.

SM Rocks.......Newer Huskys are way reliable and have full DMV in the US.

Try to get something that can get an extended range tank as the converted MX bikes will get you about 60 miles before you have run out of fuel.

I just got myself a WR250X. picked it up yesterday and already put 100 miles on it. Not too bad since it was 38f outside. Its not a monster like the 450s are but for a decent price turn key supermoto its a good bike and they gave me a pretty sweet deal since it had been sitting in the showroom far too long.

so what are yalls top speeds, cruising speeds, fuel mileage?

fastredrider44
11-22-2009, 10:31 AM
Top speed is 100 with dirt wheels and stock sprockets, or about 95 with a tooth bigger up front a couple smaller in the back on the 17s. I could drop the ratio a little more, but I don't need to. It also acclerates very quickly without having dropped the ratio any more. It's purrs along around 60 in 6th no problem. Average fuel mileage was about 55 with dirt wheels, and 50 with the slicks. I can get better without too much of a problem, but I can get worse too. Just depends on how wild I'm feeling.
