I have a 2006 TRX400ex which just developed a problem. It idles fine but upon accelaration it falls on its face (boggs down)? I was about 1/2 mile in the deep woods when this happened. I barely made it back, had to be very light on the throttle. I got back home and it cleared up??? Is this a carb issue???

Check the main jet you may have picked up some trash. Also look at the choke lever to make sure it is tight and not closing some with the vibration.

Also check your air filter, sounds like it could be dirty.

Could have been bad gas, wrong plug gap or even it kinda sounds like a loose ground.

By checking the main jet, is this difficult to do? Just take the carb off, right? Air filter seems to be somewhat clean. I will clean it, apply just a little oil right?

you should be able to check the main jet just by pulling the plug off the bottom of the carb...i think its a 17mm plug...
loosen the carb and just rotate it so you can get to the plug...you shouldnt have to remove the carb completely...unless you want to, might not be that bad of an idea...sounds like it needs cleaned out
