engine noise

when quad is idling and also when riding theres a noise from the engine sounds like a hammer hitting a nail but very fast any ideas (its a ltz 400 )

sounds like timing is off. Maybe your intake or exhaust valve is open at top dead center. i would check that first, make sure your valve clearances are up to spec also.
