I found this number on my carb slide the other day when changing the needle. its the keihin symbol i think and then a 7 next to it. So is there different slides? How do i know which one to use on my quad? different ones work better for certain rpm's?

No carb guru here, but from what I gathered, these carbs were popular on lots of different bikes and atv's, with different cc engines. The #6 slide seems to be what's popular for 250R motors on here- I think the #7 comes stock in a new airstriker and also went into the bigger bikes. I bought my a/s that's supposedly been massaged by LED for a 250R- it's been bored...I do know that, and also has a #7 slide. I'm not going to worry too much about it.

I don't have an answer for that one. Keihin's website may have that info? All I've ever heard of is the 6 and 7, but that certainly doesn't mean those are the only ones.

The slide number indicates the slides cutaway which determines the leanness or richness of the slide.

ive personally seen 4, 5, 5.5, 6, and 7. theres probably more.

normally some numbers are only available as replacements for parts that came stock on some model dirtbikes and ATV's.

they say 6 is best for the 250R. ive ran 5.5, 6, and 7 for a short period. they all seemed to work fine and took fairly close to the same jetting. the 7 took the longest to get the carb set up right.

so a 7 would be richer than a 6? maybe i will throw a 5.5 or 6 in it to see if it gains some mid range power.

No, a 7 is leaner than a #6. You got a #6 you want to sell.......or maybe trade for some nerf bars??
