Are the header pipes bigger then the stack header pipe on a ltz400

usually aftemarket headers are a larger diameter then stock also the length may be different. what pipe are you looking at?

the bend can be different also which also makes the power in different places too, along with the dia of the pipe and the length of the pipe. steve
