A thread to talk about what you did with your TRX today, tomorrow - whenever!

Today I plugged a hole in my rear tire (4 ply Razr) - made a small adjustment to the Elka's and did some riding - then came home and cleaned the bike up.

Got some video.

Now - what did YOU do with your TRX today?!

I know that feeling!! I brought mine home - rode it around the yard for 5 minutes and yanked the engine (stuck in gear, busted tranny)

It was a month before I got it all back together and running - now I don't wanna stop. Rain or shine.

You'll enjoy it more when it's fixed. Good luck!!

Went downstairs to the shop and just looked at mine and Mcboomports.
I also looked at the new project that MC, Leatherface and I have started.
The ultimate "mad max", "getto fabulous" 250R ever. The 3 of us last night were sitting in the garage B.S.'n and it dawned on us...lets grab every part that the 3 of us have and piece a "loner", "buddy" bike together.
We are only short a few parts and im thinking about doing a full build thread.
Its not going to be pretty but will be a safe, fun "beater" and will turn heads for sure.

Back to what have i done with mt TRX...im crazy!!!! and there isnt a waking moment when im not brainstorming my new build. Alot of people around me must get sick of all the foreign jibberish i spout out at a constant flow.
250R this and 250R that all day long, everyday.
Im going to do everything i can to make the R live forever.

I haven't ridden mine since March, but look at it everyday (cheers)and think of new things for it.... however, I'm currently leaning towards a complete Resto. returning it back to 100% orig pipe and all. Its in rare near-perfect condition including all of the original parts.

I just went to the dark side and bought my first 4-poker, 2006 trx450r, that I plan to do a full build up on, frame up. I wanted to see first hand what the fuss was all about. I was inspired to do a full build up and my 250R was in too good of shape to tear down and change colors etc... I found a cheap 450 and jumped on it.

I just sold my RZR to fund my projects, so more to come hopefully.

We need some more "full build" theads to peruse this winter, so get on it stat. :D

Rode mine around the track I built around the outside of my hay field on Sunday. First time I rode it since July 5th! Had to try out the new jump I put on the track.

Now I am going over all the maintenance type things I need to do, check, repair on it before I head to Coal Creek OHV with my riding group in 3 weeks.

Last night I took my tank off to seal the petcock up. I was getting tired of seeing that 9 dollar a gallon race gas leak out a drop at a time.

Planning on taking her to the woods this weekend to play with jetting. Try and get it dialed in. It will be the first time she is leaving the garage and going to the trails. :D

I was having trouble getting mine to 'find' neutral while the engine was running. Turn it off and you could click into neutral just fine.

Made some adjustments to the clutch cable and it seems perfect for now.

Started it up and heard some rattling noise - one of the bolts securing the toolbox to the frame was loose - and thank god it was cause while back there tightening it up I noticed the axle nut had come loose (anyone else think the stock axle nut sucks? I need an anti fade for sure) So I tightened the axle nut up too and wen't for a fun ride.

I started to reassemble it after getting it back from the powdercoater. I got the A-arms reassembled and installed. Also dropped of the cylinder off with my motor guy to have the edges smoothed out from the previous owners motor builder ported it and forgot to get some of the ports cleaned up. Lucky I saw that before I broke any rings.

Well - my new front brake pads arrived today so I set off to install them.

Decided this would be a great time to take apart the caliper and fully clean it up.

Took the caliper apart and the amount of crude and corrosion under the piston seals was shocking. :eek2:

Cleaned it all out pretty spotless (lightly played the flame of a propane torch in there - corrosion turned to dust pretty quick, Scrapped it away with a pick after)

Replaced the seals, put pistons back in, cleaned and greased slider pins and put on new pads.

Installed calipers on bike and started to bleed em, and bleed em, and bleed em, and bleed em, and bleed em ....

I just can NOT get all of the air out. LOL! I've tied the lever tight to the handle for tonight so hopefully it'll gravity bleed some more air out over night.

The brakes lock up the tires but if you really crank on the tires by hand (I have the tires off the ground a few inches) you can still slightly turn them.

Also, my lever doesn't have a LOT of pressure on it - you can still fully pull it in to touch the hand grip. On my 300R trike you couldn't pull the lever all the way into the grip like this - not having working brakes on the TRX before I dunno what the lever action is supposed to be like on these? I would imagine the brake lever should only travel about halfway toward the grip before full lock right?

Next week I gotta bleed the rear brake when the new back pads arrive - woopdeeedooo!

I had the same problem when I installed stainless brakelines. Have you thought about buying a vacuum brake bleeder from Car Quest or something? They are like 25 bucks and worth every penny.

Seems like my next logical step my friend. Still peeves me that I can't bleed these brakes 'normally' .

Now that you've used a vacuum bleeder and have your brakes FULLY bled - how much does your brake handle travel 'in' towards the bars?

I tried to seal up my petcock a little while ago. We shall see if she still leaks this weekend.

Put a lot of red locktite on my axle nut, maybe it will hold this time so I do not have to spend money on an anti fade.

Took awhile and this is a tough pipe to not only fit but to get to seal.
The header is a 2 piece and seals great. The belly of the pipe at the "adjustable" part is the hard one to get to stop blow by.
I cleaned everything really well and got out the rubber mallet and did some "adjusting" of my own.
I really hope this is the last time i have to do this as its a royal pain!!!!
The silencer juncture also had some blow by and i addressed that with a good old billet clamp and some silicone tube.
We shall see what happens.....ill keep ya all posted.

Well I was just going to pull the Denton swingarm off my 87 and put it on my 88 for now since it's a 88-89 style swingarm. But I ended up stripping my 87 to the bare frame after I couldn't get the pivot bolt out. So I guess I'll be changing the frame sooner than I thought. Only problem is alot of my parts were gonna come off my 88 when I rebuild that one and put them on my 87. If I tear my 88 apart now and don't finish it I'm gonna have a big fricken mess in my garage. Here's what I did today.....
I have always been a fan of the stock 86/87 louvered lower nose scoop.
So tonight while digging through a tupperware full of old parts I came across 2 of the nose scoops (for lack of a better term).
I have always wanted to make one of these fit onto my Fullbore's so after awhile of starring and cutting I came up with this........

I removed most of the upper part of the scoop and the bottom mounts.
From there I made a simple aluminum bracket and bolted it to what was left of the scoop after the hack job.

This did require to drill 4 bolt holes in the Fullbore hood but I have already put them under the knife doing the hood pins so I didnt hesitate to drill.
You would really have to look for the mounting location and with the M-Tech hood on you will never see it.

It rest's a little farther up and back but I like the overall look with it having the same angle as the M-Tech hood.

Next is a great sand job and some Fusion paint. Ill post up the final pics tomorrow night.

You're talking about the black plastic piece right? Sand it and use a heat gun, it will look like new when you're finished.... just and idea.

Got any pics further away to see how it looks with the whole bike. Its a great idea.

Yes....the plastic louver nose piece is what im looking for.I was going to ask you if you had any tricks to make this look better.
What grit should I sand to??
I will get some finished pics up later and show the final mounting process.

Looks like you started sanding it already... probably to paint?? ...I start with 220 and go up to 400 sometimes 600, but 400 will get you in the ball park. I haven't personally tried the heat gun technique as I don't have a good heat gun anymore. But I've seen it done and looks like new plastic.

I wet sand and use elbow grease, I tried using a sander with the correct grit and it didn't work out too good... fwiw.

If you have any deep grooves, you may have to go down to 100 or 150 to get them out.... I can't tell from the pics. As small as that item is it shouldn't take very long.

Cleaned an air filter and outerwear and generally straightened up a little around my shop. Also I weighed my Walsh 250R frame and subframe just for ****s. Lol. Incase anyone is wondering, with most of the frame and subframe wearing powdercoat, my frame weighs 37.3 pounds and the subframe weighs 5.5 pounds. I don't have a bare stock frame to compare that to but I didn't think that was too bad.

i installed a new Burgard bearing carrier. awesome product. i like how the grease nipple is on the outside of the carrier. it makes applying grease to the carrier so much easier then other brands where the nipple ends up inside the swingarm. the thing i like most about the carried is how the chain adjustment is made. you don't need a special tool. all you need is a 3/8 extention.

great product Burgard. now all you need to do is work on your customer service:blah:

my ac regulator came in the mail today, so i tried to put that on only to find out my wiring harness is missing some stuff so i took connectors from a spare 87 harness that i had and rigged the light to work. then i took it 20ft up the road and ran out of gas, so i went to fill up my tank and found out my older brother put all my gas in his banshee. there is fresh snow comin down as a type now and i cant ride. i skipped school to do all that work on my R so i could ride at night in the snow, i guess this is what happens when i skip school;:(
