does anyone know the size of the allen head screw that replace the float bowl screws? Ive got one that has maybe one more time taking it out before its done and prefer to just swap them out at once and be done with it.

are the 400's front brakes naturally a little on the soft side?
I thought mine were a little soft so I bled them out again and replaced the pads and calipers (stripped bolts) and they still feel soft. Is that all from the rubber lines? My pred has braided lines and the brake action is much better and the MC is junk on it as well, so my question is will braided lines tighten it up a little? or would I need to swap out the MC too to notice a difference?

lines will definitely make it alot better than the stock setup. you should feel a major difference with that but if you wanted you could put a 450r cylinder on it too and see how that helps. i think they have a bigger piston in them to help but i am not sure if they actually do or not. good luck, steve

The screws are a 4x14 thread pitch.

thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to try the lines and 450r mc and see what that gets me and do the caliper swap if I still don;t get nice firm brakes. Thanks for the tip on the threads. I will have to go down to the specialty bolt section the weekend and pick some up!

just found wheelie conversion thread and that sounds very interesting. May have to give that a whirl.

that is supposed to be a good upgrade but are the 400ex brakes really that much worse than a stock 450r setup. i am sure it is better with the lines and such though. steve

IDK.......the front brakes on mine are mushy, they do the job but just feel meh. Almost like when you jetting is real close and its fast and all just not crisp yet....

I agree with honda400ex2003 on the braided brake lines. I put braided lines on when i added longer a arms and it maid a night and day difference on the braking.

thats what I was thinking. They came stock on the pred and they are night and day over the 400ex. Not the best but a huge difference.
