I HAVE 2001 400 EX K AND N NO AIRBOX LID SLIP ON
AND I HAVE PLENTY LOW END I WAS WONDERING IF A HIGHER COMP PISTON ALONG WITH A CAM WOULD GIVE ME MORE MID TO HIGH END POWER I WAS THINKING HOTCAM STAGE 2 AND WAS WONDERING HOW HIGH OFF COMPRESSION TO RUN STILL SAFELY USING PUMP GAS ID BE WILLING TO LOSE A LITTLE BOTTOM TO ACHIEVE THIS AND COMMENTS WOULD BE NICE

PS DID SEARCH AND IT SEEMED IT WAS ASKED BUT EVERYONE WANTED A CAM FOR LOW END

YES! Midrange and top end are achieved via a cam/piston combo.
Try the ross 86mm 10.6:1 with the stage II Hotcam. You'de have a 415 then!

That would rip all over AND up top and will run nice on 93 pump gas.

WOULD THIS REQUIRE BORING OUT
I DONT WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH
IF IT DOESNT HOW WOULD U ACHIEVE 415?
MAYBE DUM QUESTION BUT HUMOR THE UNKNOWLEDGEABLE

If you bore it to a 416 it is not too expensive. With everything said and done its less than 500 bucks.

mind if I add to your question? heh, Steve, the piston you listed (ross 86mm 10.6:1) I don't understand the ross bit....I may be slow but is that the company its made by? like wiseco etc.etc.
because I am wanting to do the same upgrade that brad is doing, so I my big thing was which compression ratio. I was also wondering if like an 11:1 would be fine for pump gas too? (wiseco has a high comp. piston kit 11:1, and I was wondering if that would work too) thanks

Yes, the 416 is an overbore by 1mm. It still utilized the stock sleeve so is not expensive.

Yes, Ross is the name of the piston company. Check out thier web site.

They say 11:1 is the max on pump gas.

Sorry, but 416 is 2mm or .080 over. 406 is 1mm or .040.
