A buddy of mine is buying some property and a Bobcat and we're looking at getting some pitbikes just to screw around on. I'm totally not into this scene so I need some help. What's a good reliable brand that has adequate motor and suspension? I'm not looking at modding these things. I'm basically wanting to buy it and ride it and not have to worry about a whole heck of a lot except gas and routine maintenance. If it helps I'm 6'2" and 195lbs. and my brother is the same. Our friend is about 5'10" and probably around 160lbs.

Someone advised a Pitster 160 with the 12" tire but I don't know anything about this genre of bikes.

BUY A kawi or a suki 110, if you dont buy one now, when whatever else you buy keeps breaking, you'll buy one.

All you need is some pro taper xr50 bend bars and there damn near indestructable. im about 265-270 and i love my 110

id go with a pitster like what was recommended, its something you can learn on and wont outgrow... stock 110 wouldnt be bad either with some bars, but $ for $ your getting more bang for your buck on the pitster....freeshipping too i beleive www.ahpminis.com had decent prices on them last i checked

I like the KLX bikes too. They are pretty indestructible and can be picked up pretty cheap used. Just watch out for the footpegs/cases, the peg mount actually bolts to the bottom of the motor cases, so if you start jumping, they will rip out. They sell a "cradle mount" that is about $100 to prevent this from happening, I'd recommend it for your weight.

My old 110 didnt have one if these, needless to say thats why i don't have it anymore, now i launch it pretty good and have no problems at all!, be carefull though pitbikes can be WAY more addicting than quads if all your buddies have them!http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs112.snc1/5119_102133960904_739840904_2041512_888132_n.jpg

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. The feature whore in me says buy the Pitster Pro but the sensible side says buy the Kawi because it's a large, well-known company who's likely to be around a while so parts should never be an issue.

That's the reason I got it. I bought mine for $450 with the cases busted (pegs pulled out), new cases were about $110, and about another $20 for misc bearings, nuts, bolts, and I was in business.

Rollie is right, they can be more addicting. Parts are so cheap for them compared to quads, that you just start with buying one or two things at a time, next thing you know, your 110 has more work done to it than your race quad.

the pitster and klx parts should all interchange so parts availability shouldnt be an issue

Not alot of the parts accually are, the plastic/seat/bars/exhaust are but the wheels are differnt with disc brakes, the forks are different but with new bearing races can fit on a KLX, the swingarm does pretty much bolt on but you need a mount for the shock and brake rezzie. That being said ive heard that pitsters are very reliable bikes and there customer service is pretty good at getting you the parts you need.

well i mean motors will interchange, etc..... its basically a built klx 110 with a pitster engine

actually i think the pitsters use a 50 based bottom end so the mounts are different but i may be wrong..

i got huge into pitbikes and pitbike racing. it is REALLY addicting.. i had a drz(klx)110, loved it to death. it was actually rollies old 110:p

yeah the bottom end of the motors and the mounts on the frame/engine are all based off of a CRF50, however the top end is based on a KLX110

There are a few pister/KLX bikes on planetminis, I just saw a build up of one. I'll have to check it again, but I'm pretty sure it was a pister bike with a KLX motor bolted in...
