need better truning radius, easier to turn

my 400ex front end with 300 spindles basically sucks. it is really hard to turn 'cuz the tie rods rub together and the arms are angled backward and not level. it was not like this stock, so the geometry is different. i hate it. any tips on how to make it better without spending A LOT would be appreciated. the radius stock is not good either. my 250ex turns on a dime and requires minimal effort. how do i make it like that?

theres probably nothing you can do once you change the front end. Have you lenthened the swingarm also? I put a +3 swingarm on my old blaster once and i hated the way it turned after that.. the 250ex turns sharp cause its short like a blaster.. sorry i couldn't help lol.

stock swinger. i have to use reverse more than i had to before cuz it doesn't turn sharp enough.

you could always trim the stoppers on the steering stem

good idea. didn't think of that. how do i get it off though? is there some kind of bolt on the bottom of the stem or can i trim it on the quad?

turn your rims inside out

can't. they rub on the calipers if i do.

if I'm right there is a bolt on the bottom of the stem. otherwise you might be able to fit an angle grinder in there.

are you sure you have the arms on right, maybe there fliped from left to right. I have 400 a-arms on mine and it truns fine.

yeah, they are right. thank god. the angle on the front is straight and the backside is diagonal. compared it to other quads on google and it is exactly the same.

Take some pics of the arms on your bike. It doesn't make sence that the tie rods are bubing together. I even fliped my rims around both ways and it still steers fine. It sounds like something is bent or not right. and what do you mean by the arms ar not level?

i'm talking about the ends on nthe steering stem. the tie rods don't rub the wheels. my brake calipers rub the itp front rims cuz they curve in. i'm not flipping my rims anyways. i just want to put my stocks back on and buy new shocks. my front shocks were toast so i figured it was a good opportunity to do the swap. turned out that the geometry is different. jeff was right, it handles like ****. i'll just sell what i have and get shocks.

I figured you were refering to the ends at the stearing stem, that is why I didn't see how they could be rubbing, and the geometry should be the same as the 300ex arms. The only differance is they are about 1.8" longer per side.

i'm not gonna get into this discussion, but the frame and steering stem mount is completely different on a 400ex and is made for that, not a 300. i hate this setup and yes they are rubbing at the steering stem end.

Took everything off and it's for sale. Just bought a set of A-T works shocks dual rate for front and put my old a-arms back on. I have the hubs, rotors, spindles and arms for sale. They came off of a 2003 400ex. Hubs are newly powder-coated.

I'm looking for $180 shipped for everything except shocks. Looking for 65 shipped for shocks. Will separate though if need be. Bought the works shocks for $270. Just rebuilt and painted too.
