i got an 86 r and needed to replace the 5th main gear in it. the quad ran mint before it was torn down. its now all back with a new cdi and stator but it runs like garbage. it idles good and revs but it like stops right before the powerband. tried to adjust the air screw but does nothing. It seems like it is getting way to much fuel. anyone have any good ides. it also almost sounds as if it is back firing. it has all new gaskets and can't feel any air leaks in it.

Is your carb plugged? what color is the plug?

NEED TO DO A LEAK DOWN TEST ON IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS DRAWING IN AIR OR POSSIBLY COOLANT.

I just went throught "too much fuel" issue myself. After messing with the carb and other items I checked the reeds to find a busted one. Just want to make sure you checked the "obvious" items first!
