is it the right carrier for your application? it should slide in with little effort.

did you measure the old carrier and compare it to the new? got a pic of the swinger?

i just picked her up not too long ago and it needed a new carrier/bearings so i ordered them. the more i read online it seems that maybe the previous owner put an 85 swingarm on. how do i confirm this?

so what should i do? buy a new carrier or find a replacement swingarm?

it actually depends on which is most cost effective. if you get a low cost swinger you'll be needing the correct brake stay also as the 85 wont work on the 86 and i'm not possitive but the rear brake caliper may not fit.

this is why i hate buying used stuff...there ar etoo many "riggers" out there who just throw stuff together.

i know i have a spare swingarm in my warehouse...the bike came with a whole bunch of extra parts...i have no clue if its anygood. if it is an 86-87 what else should i need to make this work? i will probably replace the bearings if the swinger comes off.

you said the brake stay is different. is this 100 percent? the rear caliper was missing bolts and hanging off when i got it.

yuppers i'm sure about the brake stay. the 85 is too small to work on the 86 carrier you have.

if you have an 86 swinger, hopefully you have the brake stay aswell. otherwise you'll need to get one. and hopefully the 85 caliper will bolt up.

i'll have to look when i get home to see if the 86 and newer caliper will bolt up to the 85 brake stay and vise versa.

looks ok but they can be deceiving. best thing to do is to sand blast it really good. any cracks will/should show up.
