Ughh my newly acquired 400ex has problems..

As I mentioned in my other post, the quad was running a little rough.

So yesterday, me and a friend cleaned out the carb, changed the oil, new spark plug, and fresh gas.

Well the quad is still running rough.

It idles rough
There's a lot of blue smoke that comes out of the exhaust and and around the top of the engine

He said it was sitting for like 6 months

So I'm guessing a seal is bad? I think blue smoke is oil burning, correct?

What should I do?:confused:

Sounds like burning oil to me to.Bad rings and the exhaust gasket migh be bad and thats why it's smoking around the top of the engine.You might also want to check out the valve seals too.

im kinda new to 4 wheelers but if it is smokeing around the top or the mptor it could possibly be a bad head gasket also. buy someone correct me if im wrong dont wanna be giving out bad advise

Blue Smoke can also mean valve seals also. Doesn't always mean bad rings.
