Congrats. Turn your cell phone off whenever you're driving. Just pretend they don't exist while you're behind the wheel.

Take driving very seriously. I can't stress enough that driving is not a right, it's a privilege. Make sure you do plenty of driving with your parents and I hope to God they are good drivers themselves.

Be safe, be aware.

It's easy to do if you remember to be a defensive driver. Always, always pay attention to everything around you. I am constantly checking my rear view mirror, my blind spots, upcoming intersections, etc. and preparing for anything.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket and I just had my first accident almost two months ago. Wasn't my fault but because I was paying attention and planning ahead I was able to avoid a much worse outcome. I was driving down a freeway doing 55 in a 65 because I had a U-Haul trailer behind me. I had a good 6 seconds of distance between the driver in front of me when we came into a tunnel. I noticed brake lights far ahead so I began to slow down when a van cut in front of me (taking away all of my cushion) and stopped immediately. I had the brakes to the floor but was unable to stop in time. Barely bumped the van in front of me but the police were still involved. The driver that pulled in front of me had no license and he got to drive off leaving me with a ticket for not being able to control my vehicle. The cop didn't even take my side of the story. I've never had a good experience with a cop and I have very little respect for them. Every experience in life has taught me that breaking the law is better than obeying them.

ive had my license for 7 months now. i said i would never text or talk on the phone when i drove, and i wouldn't ever drive fast. i have had 3 friends die in car accidents in the past year and a half. and 5 total from my school in last 5. it lasted about 2 weeks for me. here in Indiana we aren't supposed to have kids under 18 in the car for the first 90 days. mine lasted 3 days.

my parents are very careful drivers and have never been in accidents that was their fault. i said i would be very careful too. ive yet to get pulled over or anything so far.

my point is, no matter how many people tell you to be careful and what not, only you can decide for yourself. i drive fast sometimes, but most of the time i am careful. i also constantly check my mirrors and look down at the speed im going.

while it is good to be careful, having fun and enjoying the freedom of just being alone and/or your friends in the car is awesome as well. its part of it.

have fun and be safe

I guess maybe I was scarred because we had 11 students die in car accidents while I was in high school. Car crashes can almost always be avoided if people are driving correctly.

Good luck man!

I've been pulled once because the cop thought my exhaust wasn't street legal. (Long tubes into a full length H pipe and 40 series flows):huh

But other than that, I've been pretty careful. I text and talk on occassion, but never when I have a passenger.

And I always try to get off out in the sticks before I cut her loose:devil:

What are the exhaust laws in Florida? In WI it's illegal to have anything other than an OEM exhaust. It's not enforced though unless it's ridiculously loud.

I've been pulled over for passing a cop. I knew it was a cop but I did everything legally, he was doing 40 in a 55. He pulled me over about a mile later saying he had to do 70 to catch up to me.

Congratulations. Remember to drive safe and responsibly. You can't ride quads if you're crippled or dead from a car accident.

And just cause your in a car and the speedometer may go to 120....well no need to do that unless your a drag racer and on a drag strip! Trust me once you get a ticket and if you pay your own insurance well, you will realize what you need to do to keep your money lol i have 3 points on my license and regret every single one of them....DON'T SPEED! be smart, and be a safe driver!
