View Full Version : new 400ex ('05 and up) plastics on older 400ex('04 and down)

hello to all! ok so here is my delema. i tried finding info on how to put newer 400ex plastics ('05 and up) on the older 400ex's ('04 and down) on other fourms... but they are not really helping me... ive heard of the conversion kit that comes with pre-made brakets and what not but i can not seem to find it online. could some one please and i mean PLEASE! find me a link to this conversion kit or explain with pictures on how to do this! thanks for all the help! it is much apreciated! (:

Yes it can be done. I have seen a few DIY on the swap. You can always make your own custom brackets.

no brackets need to be made......??????, just buy the front fenders, hood and there is a supoort bracket you have to buy tht holds the fenders apart, any more Q's just ask

I DID THIS TO MY 1999 and i didnt need any brackets ... the only brackets needed are to mount the headlite ...

Yes. you'll need a headlight and headlight bracket. Unless you just want to install an aftermarket hood, then you need no bracket.

heyy cool cool ur 400ex looks sick! cant even tell its a '99:P so yeah i was planning on putting a hood on it to make it look liek a 450r racer.... so the new plastics just bolted or mounted i should say right up no prob??

i would sell this 1 to ya so u wouldent even have to mess with it ... and this 1 also has the 2007 motor with reverse ... i bought the motor and plastic from a guy on here that had it for sale from a crashed bike(400ex) with a broken frame..

ok i forgot to ask one more thing lol... i have some white plastics on my '03 right now that are in decent shape that have a cool sticker job done by myself (:.. any wayzz can i just buy the front fenders?? what i mean is will '03 rear plastics and side panels fit with the '05 front plastics!?!

yes it will fit, you also have to use your headlights wires on the new style headlight cause it a different type of pigtail, i know this cause i stuck 02 front fenders and headlights on my 2005 model
